The Spink auction of the Edward Gilbert collection was held on June 15-16, 2005. The auction realized 2,120,755 pounds. The two Bermuda Postmaster stamps were in the auction. The 1d black dated 1849 went for 133,400 pounds while the 1d red dated 1856 went for 69,000 pounds. They were the first and third most expensive items in the auction.
